1. What is the ASC?
We are a network that connects students through surfing and enriches the university life with surf specific sessions, trainings and events.
2. I do not study and have never studied, but I still want to be in the club.
We have made a statutory commitment to accept only university students and graduates. Anything else would violate our statutes. If you are not a student, but still want to go to surf events, we recommend you to contact the Waveup or the SSA.
3. Is it worth it for me to become a member if I have never surfed before?
Definitely! We offer a great surf program in Switzerland as well. Many people got on the board for the first time through us. In addition, you can network with like-minded people and get tips.
4. I study at a university where there is no ASC. Can I still become a member?
As long as you meet the basic requirements (university degree/graduate) you can enroll in the ASC you want. For example, if you study in X but there is no ASC there, you can enroll in the ASC of University Y without any problems. If there is no ASC at your university and you would like to start one, you are welcome to contact us.
5. I am no longer a student. Can I still become a member?
If you have a university degree and therefore count as an alumnus or alumna, you are eligible to join. No matter how long ago you graduated.
6. I have filled in the membership form. What happens now?
You will receive a welcome email from a board member of your section explaining how to access our Whatsapp groups and intranet. Basically you will receive the login data for this website. Once you have logged in, you will also find all the information and links to join on the intranet.
7. I have enrolled but still have not received a welcome email/information. What is going on?
We are a volunteer organization and not a business. It may take a few days before you hear from us. We ask for your patience. It won't speed up the process if you send us mails after one day when your access data will arrive. If you have not heard anything after a week, please check your spam folder. If you don't find anything there, please contact us via the contact form.
8. Can I also become a member if I am an exchange student?
Of course. You can simply fill out the online registration request form for membership.
9. I really want to join your camp, but I didn't get a place.
Thank you for your interest in the camp project. Due to the high demand we only give places to members. If you are a member you can ask the board where you are on the waiting list. All information about the camp projects and a detailed FAQ can be found in the camp section.
10. It is the end of the year and I would like to join the club. Is this even usefull before the end of the year? I don't want to pay membership fees for a few months but for the whole year.
Our club year runs from September to September. This is also our billing period for membership dues. If you join before September - for example in June 2020 - you will pay the full annual membership fee for September 2020 to September 2021 when you join. The period from your joining until the start of the new association year will be billed to you at the start of the new association year. In our example, when you join, you pay for the association year September 2020 to September 2021. From June 2020 to September 2020, there is a difference of three months. When collecting membership fees in the new association year - in the example September 2020 - you will be charged the difference from the time of your joining until the collection (membership fee :12 times the months of the difference until the collection date). In this example 3 months (until the new billing period). So we have found a fair solution and you can join whenever you want without having to pay another year, even though you have been a member for only a few months.
